The Student Advisor Volunteer/Mentor program began in January 2023 and continues to be very effective. We are thrilled that we have finally found a way for volunteers to help fill a need we have while also engaging with the students. These positions are ideal for people who enjoy and have experience working with youth.

Training for this role is held annually in March. There are two recap meetings per year in ? and October, that provides an opportunity for Advisors to come together to discuss their experiences and to learn from each other. One of our counselors or therapists are also on hand to help volunteers better understand the needs and challenges of our students and how to be of assistance.

SWM is seeking a dedicated group of volunteers who are willing to serve on our new Auction Items Development Team. This is a vital committee focused on securing   “big ticket” items for the silent auction associated with our Annual Scholarship Luncheon.

As a team member, your commitment is simple but powerful: secure at least one high-value auction item per year by reaching out to businesses, brands, or individuals willing to donate. We will give you all the tools you need to succeed. You will be required to attend a one-hour virtual orientation session covering how to identify and approach potential donors, what kind of items generate the most interest, access to key documents such as our 501cs3 letter, shipping instructions for donated items and how to request in-kind receipts.

We will offer virtual quarterly check-in meetings where volunteers can get questions answered and share success stories and strategies and receive updates on auction needs and goals. Recruitment for this committee will be ongoing throughout the year, and every contribution helps us raise more funds to empower more students with scholarships and college readiness.

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for anyone who is self-motivated and goal oriented, organized and attentive to detail, comfortable with outreach and follow-up and passionate about making a direct impact on students’ lives.

Once you complete the volunteer application, we will respond regarding next steps.
